Sakina Dean, Executive Director: As Executive Director, Sakina sits in the top spot at Divine Light, Inc., and performs a range of duties similar to those of chief executive officers in corporate businesses. Her role includes working with, supporting and carrying out the will of the Board of Directors, managing the day to day operations of the organization, including hiring, firing and oversight of all staff, handling the public relations and image positioning aspects of the organization, and serving as the chief liason with funders, constituents, volunteers, staff, board of directors, and the general public.
Darren Sterling, Facilities Supervisor: Responsible for admissions and intake. Mr. Sterling has over 15 years of providing services to at-risk populations. Divine Light provides immediate “Live” staff for after hour Short-Term Emergency Recovery Housing Services for situations that call for placement and immediate transition into a safe, sober and secure environment.
Jason Mercado, Nutrition Support Specialist: Mr. Mercado has over 10 years of experience in providing nutrition education, services and supervision. Nutrition Education & Support services by Divine Light allows participants in the project to understand “wellness as a critical area for recovering people”. On-going self-care enhances the quality of life in sobriety and helps prevent relapse.
Darren Sterling: Spiritual Mentoring and Coaching. Divine Light believes that in order to treat a disorder, the core beliefs and faulty thinking that have plagued individuals long before they began to use drugs or alcohol must be addressed.
Duane Alexander: Life Skills Training and Education Instructor. Life skills are the skills that a person must possess in order to successfully live in today's world. These include knowing how to work at a job and be part of a team, manage money, manage time, live as part of a family and learning effective communication skills.
Martin Boyd, Employment and Vocational Skills Training Instructor. Divine Light provides life skills training as well as opportunities for participants to receive training in Barbering, Hair Styling and Food Services at our vocational training sites.
